NEW BACKER FOR
WAKEFIELD IN BLOOM
Wakefield
Theatres is the latest organisation to give its backing to the Wakefield
in Bloom campaign.
A
bright floral display will welcome drama fans as part of Wakefield
Theatres' show of support for the Wakefield Council initiative. From early
June there will be hanging baskets outside the theatre on Drury Lane and
new floral arrangements inside the theatre café.
The
theatre has also worked closely with the Council to arrange for a large
poster to be installed on the hoarding outside to promote Wakefield in
Bloom.
Primary
school age pupils are being encouraged to submit paintings and drawings on
the theme of Wakefield in Bloom and the best work will be showcased on the
new poster, which will be funded by the Council.
Murray
Edwards, Executive Director of Wakefield Theatres, said: "We are
pleased to support the Wakefield in Bloom initiative which we believe will
make our area even more beautiful. Wakefield Theatres is going through an
exciting period of renovation and growth and we feel this is just the kind
of project we need to build on the appeal of our city."
Cabinet
Member for Regeneration, Phil Dobson added: "This show of support by
Wakefield Theatres is another sign of the commitment of local businesses
and community groups to join in this very positive initiative. I look
forward to seeing artwork by local children on display. "
And
Pauline Foster, Service Director of Urban Centres Management and Economic
Development, encouraged others to join in the campaign: " We are
delighted to be working with Wakefield Theatres to promote Wakefield in
Bloom and the UCMED team is working hard to encourage other businesses and
community groups to participate. "
