CHILDMINDER'S
CELEBRATE SUCCESS
Childminders
from across the District gathered together to celebrate their successes
and achievements earlier this week. The event named Wakefield's Newly
Registered Childminder of the Year 2005 as Joanne Burgess, and Established
Childminder's of the Year 2005 as Helen and Bob Cunniff from Noah's Ark.
Councillor
Olivia Rowley Chair of the Wakefield District Sure Start Parnership and
Anita Farrell Head of Service for Wakefield's Early Education and
Childcare Service hosted the event, held at the Town Hall.
Entries
flooded in for the two categories: Newly Registered Childminders, who have
been in post for less than 18 months, and Established Childminders who
have been in post for more than 18 months. The quality of the nominations
was exceptionally high this year and the judges found it difficult to
identify the winners. The panel were surprised and delighted to receive
entries from some children under the childminders care.
Within
both categories there was a first prize of £100 and a second prize of £50,
these were presented at the ceremony. All winners also received a
certificate and cup. Alongside Joanne Burgess and Noah's Ark the runners
up were: Diane Steel in the Newly Registered category and Sheila Hayes in
the Established category, who were both delighted with their prizes.
Anita
Farrell, Head of Service for the Wakefield Early Education and Childcare
Service said: "Parents in Wakefield can have confidence to go back to
work knowing their children are safe and well looked after by professional
childminding services. Good childminders keep children busy, have fun and
help them to learn."
