From the WMDC Press and Communications Office PLACES AVAILABLE IN WAKEFIELD TRIATHLONPlaces are still available for keen amateurs in the Wakefield Triathlon. The event takes place at Pugneys on Sunday 2nd July, and a number of spaces are now available for people, either individually or as team, who wants to give the 1500 metre swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run a try. You don't have to have a top class racing bike, as any roadworthy bike will do, and it is not even necessary to have your own wetsuit as organisers can arrange hire of equipment. The event is also doubling up as the national age group championships and qualifying for the British team, so competitors and spectators will get to see some of the country's best athletes in action. Event Director Iain Hamilton said: "This is an event for Wakefield and we would love to see as many local people as possible taking part. "We have also organised many events around the triathlon, so there will be lots of things for competitors and spectators to see and do at Pugneys on both the Saturday and the Sunday. Anyone who wants to give the sport a try is welcome, as are team groups who can split the workload taking one discipline each." Competitors wishing to take part in the event or who would like more information should visit the Tri-Society website. Ref:
