FAMILIES AND NEIGHBOURHOODS
A NEW APPROACH
The
Wakefield District Partnership is launching its Local Area Agreement -
'Families and Neighbourhoods' - at an event in Wakefield Town Hall this
week.
Representatives
from partner organisations, local MPs and a Government Minister will take
part in the event, on Friday 31 March at 3pm.
The
Agreement is a new approach being piloted in Wakefield that is based on a
contract between the Government and local organisations with the aim of
delivering better services that relate more closely to the needs of local
people.
In
Wakefield the Agreement will be signed up to by all of the key
organisations in the District including the Council, the Police, the
Health Service and the College and it sets out specifically what all those
organisations will aim to deliver for local people over the next 3 years.
It
is based on delivering services more closely to how people live their
lives by dealing with the particular needs of individuals, looking at how
they relate to the family they are part of and also the neighbourhoods
where they live.
Councillor
Peter Box, Chair of the Wakefield District Partnership, said: "The
Agreement is our way of making sure we deliver what we have set out to do
in the Community Strategy and to make sure we do so in a more effective
way that makes a real difference to people's lives."
The
Agreement includes 21 key improvements with targets to be achieved over
the next 3 years. These include increasing business formation in the
district, increasing employment, increasing educational attainment,
reducing domestic violence and reducing homelessness. A copy of the
agreement can be found on the Wakefield District Partnership website under

The
Wakefield District Partnership is the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP)
for the Wakefield District. It is made up of all the key organisations
delivering the many services and activities that affect the lives of
people who live, work, visit and do business in the area.
