DEVELOPING
THE FIVE TOWNS
27 FEBRUARY 2006

Residents can discuss the future development of the Five Towns at a series of workshops in March.

The Five Towns Urban Renaissance Towns Team is working on a development plan and has invited people to attend workshops to see how it will be progressed. They can also find out about projects which are already taking place.

Wakefield Council Leader Cllr Peter Box, who chairs the Urban Renaissance Towns Team, said: "We are encouraging people to attend the workshops to give their views on how the renaissance vision can be moved forward."

There will also be an opportunity to discuss issues which will be considered in future consultations in Pontefract and Featherstone.

Development is currently taking shape in a blend of housing, commercial, leisure and recreational projects.

A report from the workshops will be given to the next Urban Renaissance Towns Team meeting on March 17 at Pontefract Town Hall at 4.30pm.

The workshops are as follows:

Tuesday March 7, Castleford: Sagar Street Regeneration Centre
Wednesday March 8, Knottingley: Community Centre, Ferrybridge
Thursday March 9, Normanton: Library and Community Centre
Friday March 10, Pontefract: Town Hall
Wednesday March 15, Featherstone: Chesney's Centre

All workshops will run from 4.30pm to 7.30pm and can be attended at any time during these sessions.
