IMPROVE YOUR GOLF
6 MARCH 2006
Golfers
can continue to enjoy the sport at improved Wakefield courses - and for
the same price as last year.
For
the second year running season ticket prices have stayed the same, leading
to increased membership at the City of Wakefield and Whitwood Golf
Courses.
Wakefield
Council has invested in the Whitwood course by developing a new Golf Shop,
new disabled facilities and car parking area - it has now seen its
membership increase by 40%.
It
is hoped there will soon be a new putting green and ongoing improvements
to the course.
Greenkeeping
staff at City of Wakefield Golf Course help maintain the course and
improve areas for wildlife. There are also plans for new disabled
facilities at the clubhouse.
For
the first time there are golf buggies to be used on this course, and the
shops at both courses mean Golf Professional David Bagg can provide help
to members and the public.
Memberships
for City of Wakefield: Full adult - £325; Seven Day OAP - £205; Five Day
OAP - £137; Juniors up to 18 years - £105; Students - £105
For Whitwood: Full Adult - £223; Seven Day OAP - £137; Five Day OAP- £90;
Juniors up to 18 years - £70; Students - £70
Season
tickets are also now available at Springmill and Pontefract Park Golf
Courses for £120.
The
cost of standard green fees for general pay and play have increased in
line with inflation - they are still among the cheapest in Yorkshire.
