KNOTTINGLEY MUSEUM

ADDED 12 APRIL 2007

During a recent conversation about Knottingley with our Postman, who is an old mate of mine, I got thinking about Knottingley's history and the stories that I've heard about Knottingley folk. Wouldn't it be great if we had a place to display the hundreds, possibly thousands of photographs and items of interest depicting the history of Knottingley; a place where local people could go and see the pictures and discuss them with other people who are interested in our towns history. Perhaps a Knottingley museum is what is needed?

I've recently heard that the police station is to become vacant, so wouldn't that be a great place for the museum? I'm sure it would be a very popular place with young and old. I'm not too clued up on the financing of a place like this or how it could get off the ground but it's an interesting idea.
