BARGE IS LAUNCHED

The cargo barge 'BESTHORPE' for the Lincoln and Hull Water Transport Co., Ltd., of Hull, was launched at the Knottingley shipyard of John Harker Ltd., on Thursday, by Mrs E. Tomlinson.
The vessel which is 130 feet long and 21 feet 6 inches broad had a carrying capacity of 410 tons, and an overall speed of seven to eight knots. It accommodates a crew of two. This is the 267th vessel launched from the Knottingley shipyard and the second built from there for the Hull firm.

Registered at Hull number 1 on 1st January 1965. A general cargo steel barge with a six cylinder Gardner engine built by Harkers in 1964 for Lincoln and Hull Water Transport Co., of Hull. Measurements 125.40ft x 21.55ft x 7.60ft, gross tonnage 197.58, register 121.73. Rebuilt in 1967 by Drypool Engineering and Dry Dock Company of Hull.
