Mr.
Ron Gosney's Response
I am going to
see if I can turn something up for you, but as a starter I have to say
don't believe everything you see recorded in one census return as I feel
sure this is where you have got some of your information.
Take a look at James Betchetti and Charlotte Purdy, neither of them were
born in Knottingley. As a glassblower James moved around wherever work was
available in the glass manufacturing places of Yorkshire.
In 1881 census he is recorded as James BETCHELLS, a 27 year old
glassblower lodging at Booth Fold, Conisbro and his place of birth is
shown as YORK. In the same census at Cromack Lane, Conisbro is a
Charlotte PURDY aged 18 with what looks like a daughter Ann Maria aged
5mths, and Charlotte's place of birth is shown as Summercoats, Derbys.
So you need to check PRO indexes for a marriage sometime after 1881.
Kindest
Regards
Ron Gosney
