I'm looking
for information on the Smith and Draper families in Ferrybridge &
Brotherton.
My great Grandmother Sybil Smith was born in Ferrybridge in 1901 and moved
to Leeds after her marriage in about 1925. Her brother George Smith,
b.1898 was killed in 1915 in (Al Kut, Mesopotamia) present day Iraq, and
is commemorated on the Ferrybridge War Memorial.
Her father was Thomas Smith, born Brotherton in 1866, he married her
Mother Kate Draper, born Ferrybridge 1870. Their marriage took place in
September 1887.
Kate's parents were George Draper b.1838 in Ferrybridge and Mary Ann
b.1839 in Castleford.
During the 1901 census Thomas and Kate lived at Seftons Buildings, Ferry
Fryston, and had the following children living with them.
John Smith b.1888, Ferrybridge
Mary Ann Smith b.1890, Ferrybridge
George Smith b.1898, Ferrybridge
Sybil Smith b.1901, Ferrybridge
