HOLMES

We know
nothing about our HOLMES ancestors. Today I applied for the marriage
certificate of my g+ grandfather JESSE HOLMES who married AGNES JOHNSTON
in 1856. Jesse was a goldminer in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia, aged 28, which puts his
birth year about 1828. He lists his father as John Holmes, mariner of
Knottingley and his mother as Mary Ann Bishop. Jesse and Agnes went
on to have eight children. It would be wonderful to put flesh on the
bones of our ancestors...does anybody know the HOLMES family history???
