ABLE SEAMAN HARRY UNDERWOOD


LOST AT SEA

Able Seaman Harry Underwood, whose death at sea was reported last week, was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Underwood of Bluebell Cottage, Forge Hill, Knottingley.  Mr. Underwood is well known in Knottingley as secretary of the Knottingley Infirmary Committee and a member of the Knottingley Services Welfare Executive Committee.  Able Seaman Underwood was 21 years of age and joined the Navy in March 1942 as a gunner in the Motor Torpedo Boats.

In civilian life he was in the employ of the L.M.S. Railway Co. at Cutsyke and earlier with Messrs Bagley and Co.
