WAKEFIELD DISTRICT HOUSING
Ref: May 2006-06

Wakefield District Housing are to organise a series of Area Housing Forums - the first was held in Ferrybridge on 28th March. The meetings are open to the public and their aim is to obtain the views of tenants and residents in relation to W.D.H. Services and to carry out consultation on housing and community issues.

We have been given some approximate start dates for modernisation works in Ferrybridge and Knottingley;

Pinders 12th June; England Lane 19th June and Vale 4th September. Some works have already been carried out in Richmond Avenue and a small area of Warwick Esatate around the Wallbottle that was missed out on previous modernisation schemes.

It is intended that the Area Forum Meetings will move around Pontefract, Knottingley and Featherstone, but with the amount of modernisation work being carried out and the potential for problems I think most people will welcome this additional opportunity to put their views forward.

WDH have been successful in obtaining funding from the Housing Corporation to redevelop Wentcliffe Estate at Ferrybridge and they have received a grant of £2.334,131 to provide 58 new build properties for rent and part ownership.

The work is to be carried out in three phases and the first phase could start as soon as August.
