WAKEFIELD SPEAKS
Ref: March 2006-05

The first of four ‘Wakefield Speaks’ events on behalf of the Wakefield District Partnership, is due to take place on 6th March at Knottingley Sports Centre. The focus of the events will be to review the Fast Forward Community Strategy and we will be consulting local residents on the five challenges contained within the strategy, these being:

  • Feeling and being safer, which will explore your viewson neighbourhood wardens, environment clean up teams, police community support officers and antisocial behaviour orders.

  • Looking after ourselves; we will be asking about issues affecting peoples health for example healthy eating, exercise, tobacco and alcohol and teenage pregnancies.

  • Developing a dynamic economy; what do you think about improvement to town centres such as Castleford and Wakefield, regeneration schemes and how we encourage new businesses into the district.

  • Investing in our people; will look at how we are trying to improve education results in schools.

  • Improving our places; we are asking if things we are doing to improve the environment are working, such as improving housing and town centres, recycling waste and helping people to get around the district.

Special guest will be Ian Clayton, writer performer and TV presenter. Anyone wishing to attend needs to register as a buffet is provided and we need to be aware of numbers attending.

To have a say in your area and to reserve a place, please telephone 01924 306769 or alternatively you can email engagement@wakefield.gov.uk.
