UPDATE ON THE PROPOSED LAFARGE PLASTERBOARD FACTORY
Ref: June 2006-04

The public exhibition held recently attracted approximately 130-150 visitors.

The main concerns were highlighted as air pollution, traffic and noise all of which are being worked on in detail by Lafarge.

Should the scheme proceed then acoustic fences will be erected. Clean combustion technologies are being researched for the necessary combustion plant and a full environmental impact assessment has been prepared. This has been submitted as part of a planning application to WMDC on 25th April.

There is also under discussion the potential for traffic lights to be installed at the top of the slip road from Ferrybridge onto the old A1 north (now the A162). This would then allow traffic to turn right and head south to the M62 with a significant reduction in the use of local roads in Ferrybridge and Brotherton.

The next FGD Liaison Group Meeting is to be held on 14th June at Ferrybridge Power Station.
