The
choir always consisted of pupils in the third and fourth year - the final two
years of education. There was a strong choral tradition within the school led by
Mr. Harold Hargrave. He was also the choirmaster at Ropewalk Methodist Church,
Knottingley.
Each year the choir was reformed as the older pupils left for Secondary
Education, to be replaced by younger pupils coming through.
Over the years there were many successful performances at the Pontefract Music
Festival. This photograph was taken in March 1958 with a banner and shield
awarded days before at the Festival.
