We did lots of concerts in aid of charity, namely the Workhouse at Pontefract, at the time when Bulla Wilde, a well-known local celebrity, was in there. Also we did a concert at the Hull Orphanage, whereupon my Mum took one of the orphans home for Christmas.

The dancing lessons given by Mrs Kellet, were held at a house in Womersley Road. The price of the lessons were, as I remember, one hour for 2s 6d. Mrs Kellet and her daughters would choreograph our moves and songs for the next concert. The highlight would be to be taken upstairs to the box room to see all the crinoline dresses and outfits worn by the 'K' Sisters when they were performing.
