The Warwick Adventure Playground and Community Campus is a local community facility on the Warwick estate, Knottingley.
The Adventure Playground has been open for 28 years, providing open access play for local children. The service is a key part of the lives of local families, providing quality play for children, out of school hours and during holidays.
The service is currently provided by workers employed by Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, but managed in partnership with a management committee of local people from the area.
Recently the management committee applied for and secured capital money from Yorkshire Forward, Fresh Air (SRB IV), Landfill Tax and European Regional Development Fund to demolish the portakabin and build a new purpose built facility that would also be available for community use and a programme of adult learning activities. This latter aspect of the service is the Community Campus. The committee also secured funding from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to fund the appointment of the Community Services Operations Manager and later we will be appointing a Community Play Development Worker who will be developing out of school childcare.

Work on the building was completed just before Christmas and the centre is now open. At present the only activities are the play and youth provision, but the community side is being developed, starting with an official opening of the building by local MP, Yvette Cooper on January 26th 2001.
An initial part of the development work for the Community Campus will be consultation to ensure that the service provided is relevant to the needs of the local community. From the consultation the centre will set up a programme of community activities and adult learning sessions.

There is a parent and toddler group which meet on Wednesdays at 11.00 - 3.30pm
There are also bingo sessions on Saturday and Sunday from 6.30pm (Begin 7.15pm)
