Press Release : 5 May 2001

Cadet Warrant Officer Paul Clarke from 2446 Knottingley Squadron has achieved the 2001 nomination to represent The North of England in the competition for the Air Training Corps’ Dacre Sword Award. Paul (of Snaith) has been a member of 2446 (Knottingley) Squadron for 5 years.

The Dacre Sword Award is the highest award a cadet can achieve in his Air Cadet Career (A similar award ‘The Dacre Brooch Award’ exists for female Air Cadets; only one award is presented each year by the Commandant Air Cadets. CWO Clarke was nominated in recognition for his outstanding involvement and success in all Air Cadet activities. His nomination alone is a fantastic achievement for Paul, and is a 1st for a male cadet at Knottingley.

Paul said ‘I am proud and honoured to have been nominated for such a prestigious award. I have enjoyed my time in the Air Training Corps, and I am over the moon at gaining the North Region representation. Being nominated for this award makes me feel as though my service within the Air Training Corps has been recognised. Many thanks to those who have supported and put me forward for this award’.

The Squadron Commanding Officer Richard Wood nominated Paul because of his commitment to the squadron and the enthusiasm he has shown during the five years he has been with the Corps.

Knottingley Squadron Air Training Corps is situated in the Knottingley High School Grounds, and Parades between 7:00pm, and 9:30pm every Monday and Thursday. Please contact Richard on 01977 678902 for further details.
