'JOBSPOINT'

Ferrybridge Community Centre

Ferrybridge Community Centre is considering having a 'Jobspoint' at the centre, to run for one session per week.  Jobspoint's offer advice and information to people seeking training and/or employment skills.  Anyone visiting a 'Jobspoint' can access the following ;

  • One to One Advice sessions

  • Look on the Internet for jobs

  • Have free use of the telephone to enquire about jobs

  • Free postage for sending off job applications

  • Receive help with CV's and completing application forms

  • Be provided with local and regional newspapers to help with job searches

Anyone attending the sessions will also be able to access computer programs such as;

  • Adult Directions

  • Training Access Point (TAP)

  • Occupations 2002/2003

'Jobspoint' is a charitable organisation based at St. Catherine's Church, Wakefield, and the staff there are looking for volunteers willing to work with members of the community who want to achieve employment.  Anyone wishing to become a Jobspoint advisor will receive all the necessary training and support to enable them to carry out their role.  If anyone in the area wishes to become a volunteer at the Ferrybridge Community Centre 'Jobspoint',  or you would like more information, or to speak to a current volunteer, please contact Mary Higgins on 01977 675567 or Tony Fradgley, the Jobspoint Co-ordinator, on 01924 211130.

This is a very worthy project, immensely satisfying, and one that will benefit you personally, those using the Jobspoint and more importantly, your community by having an access point for jobs and training advice in your own locality.
